About Student Services

The Student Services Department provides support and assistance to students, parents and school based personnel. Our mission is to increase student achievement and learning by providing leadership and facilitation in the areas of Student Health Services, Attendance, Dropout Prevention, Social Work Services, School Safety and Security and Student Discipline and Intervention. Student Services also serves as a liaison with all law enforcement agencies in Greenville County.

Alternative Programs

The mission of the Alternative Programs of the School District of Greenville County is to provide short-term intervention programs that offer a structured learning environment designed to address the academic and social needs of at-risk students.

Dropout Prevention

The mission of the Greenville County Schools’ Dropout Prevention Specialist (DPS) is to work collaboratively with administrators, school counselors, social workers, and families to develop better pathways to educational attainment for recent dropouts and students at-risk of dropping out.

Health Services

Recognizing that healthy students learn better, the School District has a licensed nurse in each school. The purpose of school nursing is to enhance the educational process by the modification or removal of health related barriers to learning and by promotion of an optimal level of wellness.

Homelessness is a lack of permanent housing resulting from extreme poverty, or, in the case of unaccompanied youth, the lack of a safe and stable living environment.
